Ban Hammers, Not Rifles

After all, hammers and clubs kill more people
According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle. In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618[, while] in 2011, there were 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.
Besides killing more people, there is another reason why we should ban hammers and clubs from public possession: there is no Constitutional amendment barring the government from infringing on the people's right to own hammers. Ditto with the rights of those fruitcakes who want to open-carry the lethal weapons in public, dangling from their hip-holsters, along with pockets full of pointy projectiles...no pesky Amendment there either. Furthermore, since the Left hates Xtians who take their religion seriously, well the historical figure known as Jesus was a Jewish carpenter, so there's another reason to ban them. And best of all, there's no NHA--National Hammer Association--to lobby against the legislation. No Wayne LaPierre-equivalent reprensenting the millions of hammer owners out there, challenging our country to guard schools with police armed with hammers and clubs like British bobbies. Easy victory in Congress to be had, if only someone would take up the call to ban hammers and clubs. It's for the children.

How many children and adolescents are killed at school with hammers each year?

Our "health care" system kills more people than guns to. They nearly killed my brother over the summer - right after having surgery on his intestine - the doctor ordered "no food for 48 hours". Another doctor came in (almost immediately) and said, "start feeding regularly".

The punchline (meant as humor) is:

Buy a gun and shoot a doctor.

The "doctors kill more people than guns" was "debunked" as an urban legend.

However; closer examination reveals that it is in fact the truth.

People are more likely to die from a medical blunder than they are from a gun shot.

...And Obama wants more people to get into the "health care" scene...

Think about it...

More children die from automobiles, drowning, and even fire than guns each year. But the anti-gun utopians seem to believe the removal or restriction of an inanimate object will somehow solve a problem that is with a broken or dysfunctional culture. Violence is behavioral and therefore in people, not things.

Shhhh....don't give them any ideas.

I'm actually considering buying a long and short blade of some sort for protection. In close quarters and with proper training they can actually be more effective. No ammo to worry about

I dunno. Do you own research. Let us know what you find.

While we're at it, let's ban "hands and fists" from school, since those registered weapons kill more than rifles too.

Oh, and let's ban school buses. Supposedly those 12-ton missiles kill 21 kids each year, on average.

It's all for the children.

@Wapiti - actually - you would have to pull all the kids teeth out - since biting is considered assault with a weapon...
