Borg to Marines: Prepare For Assimilation

Even for Devil Dogs and Leathernecks, it appears that resistance is futile:
Male Marines listed being falsely accused of sexual harassment or assault as a top concern in a survey about moving women into combat jobs, and thousands indicated the change could prompt them to leave the service altogether.

The anonymous online questionnaire by the Marine Corps surveyed 53,000 troops last summer, with the results provided to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta before he opened thousands of combat positions to women last week.  Among the other top concerns listed by male Marines were possible fraternization and preferential treatment of some Marines.

Respondents also worried that women would be limited because of pregnancy or personal issues that could affect a unit before it’s sent to the battlefield.

Both sexes mentioned intimate relationships between Marines and feeling obligated to protect female Marines among their top five concerns about the change.

Female Marines also said they worried about being targeted by enemies as POWs, the risk of sexual harassment or assault, and hygiene facilities, according to the survey, which did not give specifics. [They] also expressed concern about acceptance and physical abilities if given a ground combat job.

Military experts said the results were not surprising because the Marines have the highest percentage of males among the branches of the armed forces.  Some, however, said the survey shows the need for sensitivity training and guidance from leadership so the change goes smoothly, as occurred when the military ended its policy that barred openly gay troops.
Both sexes surveyed said getting women closer to the action will improve their career opportunities.
Truly our culture is falling victim to its own successes. Luxos is so plentiful and security so assumed that our society has few qualms about conducting social experiments on its guardians and treating the military like just any other big-government employment program*...so much so that even the Marines are targeted for sensitivity training.

And they're correct to fear accusations of sexual harassment, false or otherwise. For that is how one controls male response to female sexual solicitation...and thereby making a masculine culture become more feminine.

* We have "black jobs" at the Post Office...why not pinkified billets for grrls in the Marines?

The only reason females sign up for the military is because they know what a good deal it is for them or was. That just all changed. Now the military will be as attractive to women as coal mining or crab fishing. They couldn't have come up with a better way of getting rid of them.

Rex,

Did you see in linked article mention of the female Marines who would separate if forced into a combat job?

Nice.

Niko,

"Watch how fast they change everything around and lower standards so they can fill more roles with women who can't hang..."

Yeah, I'm wondering if the promises of "standards won't drop" will be dropped under equality-of-outcome pressure from feminists.

Already in the regular military, physical standards are sex-normed along a theoretical "level of effort" scale. The thought being that, say 30 pushups for a woman in 1 minute is the same level of exertion as 45 is for men.

The objective is transparently about career opportunity for women interested in leadership...thus I expect standards to be adjusted according to sex in the not too distant future to ensure that the percent of females in leadership positions matches that of the military as a whole.

Thanks ORM. Same.

I understand this standard when working to achieve a realistic goal or to be at the same lvl of physical fitness.

But when the job requires a certain level of performance, that's not the same as fitness. Sure, a woman can be "just as fit" as a guy, but the definition of fit for a woman is different than that of a man, and having to pick up your 250lb fellow marine and drag him to safety, it doesn't matter if your deemed "just as fit".

Agree totally Christina. Bullets don't care what standard one is held to. As you say, what sort of KSAs are required for the job, and can a candidate do them?

But as we've seen, such merit-based criterions fall like coddled bourgeois in the face of equalitarian desires for equality of outcome. And jobs, apparently.

I suspect that this case will be no different. I hope I'm wrong...but will probably be correct.

Yes I saw the link but if I had to predict which branch this new policy is going to blow up on if they take it seriously and not just say how wonderful this is publicly and apply it internally to their operations, it will probably be the Army.

it's curious that no matter what law, policy, or executive order is enacted in the u.s., the net result always is loss of status and employment for males, and thus fewer and fewer men able to be fathers to boys, and even to pretend to "head households"

the politics of masculine annihilation... the Sorority in distrito columbia is always skreeching about a War on Women, even while they and their hirelings engage 24/7 in the exact opposite

hell, widen thy jaws

This might be a rumor, but I heard that many female marines also expressed concern over whether or not the uniforms "made them look fat" or not.

(JOKE!!!)

Its cuz they are men's uniforms =p

Tried putting a pair of jeans on yesterday and I was appalled that they wouldn't get over my thighs and hips. I sat down, cried, and found something else to wear.

Then my hubby came in and asked where his jeans were...

Yup. And God help those that dare veer from the Narrative, even if done mildly, and from a SoCon perspective, as Suzanne Venker did recently.

A woman is whining because her daughter's husband has taken her children away from her, and is requesting people to please help her.

I pointed out that TENS OF MILLIONS of MEN have had their children kidnapped by women, and the women REFUSED to help the men. So why should we help you women? And the reaction? The usual male-shaming language and man-hating feminist bullshit. How surprising.
